Cosmogony of Generic Structures

The problem of formation of generic structures in the Universe is addressed, whereby rst the kinematics of inertial continua for coherent initial data is considered. The generalization to self{gravitating continua is outlined focused on the classiication problem of singularities and metamorphoses arising in the density eld. Self{gravity gives rise to an internal hierarchy of structures, and, dr...

Cosmic Chemistry: Cosmogony

Big Bang, quarks, dark matter, general relativity, red-shift, non-Euclidean geometry, worm holes—all words that are mysterious in their details, but often translated into the vernacular with relative ease by journalists and science writers. These words form part of the core of the science of cosmology, a science in which the questions usually are easy to state, but equally difficult to answer. ...

The Cosmogony of Super-Massive Black Holes

• The luminosities of the quasars with the largest redshifts indicate that central BH masses of > 10 M⊙ were already present when the Universe was less than 10 years old (Barth et al. 2003). These masses are lower limits as they are based on the assumption that the BHs accrete at their Eddington limit. There is no indication that the (majority of the) sample of highest-redshift-quasar luminosit...

An Isocurvature Cdm Cosmogony. Ii. Observational Tests

A companion paper presents a worked model for evolution through inflation to initial conditions for an isocurvature model for structure formation. It is shown here that the model is consistent with the available observational constraints that can be applied without the help of numerical simulations. The model gives an acceptable fit to the second moments of the angular fluctuations in the therm...
